Both emulators include old versions of Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Word, Nisus Writer, Adobe Photoshop, KidPix, MacPaint, and a lot more. The emulators include a few apps and games, so you can actually use them to get some work done or have some fun. However, although I had BasiliskII running fine on Leopard, it won't even launch on Snow Leopard. It works and is configured a lot like Sheepshaver, probably because Sheepshaver was based on BasiliskII. There's another emulator called BasiliskII that emulates the 68030 (Mac IIx/IIci/IIsi, Performas) and 68040 (Quadra, Centris, higher-end Performas) up to Mac OS 8.1. The Mac version of SheepShaver is a universal binary, so it runs natively on an Intel-based Mac. SheepShaver is a PowerPC emulator that runs under Mac OS X. If you're using the Mac OS 9 Lives installer, this will be open on boot. Once you ahve booted, you'll need to use the disk format utility.

It'll take a minute or so to boot, usually with a strange yellow screen then it'll change to the Mac boot sequence. I recently discovered the Mac OS 9 lives version of macOS 9.2 installer, which is tailored for emulators like QEMU, as it launches to the disk utility and is a stream lined install It's about 500 MB.
